Drain Doctor Takes on Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 46 for Ronald McDonald House Charities

Drain Doctor franchise owners and support staff banded together to tackle the 46-mile Prudential RideLondon-Surrey cycle race to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities

PETERBOROUGH, Cambridgeshire, PE1 5PP (15/08/2017) –The Prudential RideLondon festival saw over 100,000 cyclists to the streets of London, with over 28,000 people completing the RideLondon-Surrey 100 and 46-mile routes on Sunday 30th sportives.

Eight of these 28,000 completers were amateur cyclists from the Drain Doctor network. Brother and sister duo Natalie O’Brien and Aaron Clark from Drain Doctor London South West, father and son David and Michael Baddeley from Drain Doctor Birmingham Central and Kevin Preston from Drain Doctor North West were the five franchise owners that completed the 46-mile ride, along with Drain Doctor Support Office team members Joshua Barker, Helen Bond and Eloise Evans who also completed the 46 miles.

Some of our cyclists were a little more experienced than others, where the finish times vary from 3:09:06 to 4:34:59 – but every single minute was filled with determination to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).

At the recent Dwyer Europe annual convention, we had RMHC visit and talk with our network about how they can help to support the houses. We also had a couple of our franchise owners talk about the amazing work that RMHC do for children and families all across the globe. The Ronald McDonald Houses give the whole family a place to live whilst a child is in the hospital so families can stay together. No family should need to split up when they are already going through so much – so Dwyer Group wanted to help as much as we could to give families a chance at normality and help them cope with everything.

Michael Baddeley of Drain Doctor Birmingham said, “Myself and Denise visited the Ronal McDonald House in Birmingham and saw what amazing things they do there to help families at such difficult times. It is local for us and made us aware of what the whole family have to endure during that time. RMHC really do care and they are extremely supportive for everyone.

“I’m really happy that everyone managed to complete it and in all honesty I was personally very proud of the ‘Old Man’ (David Baddeley) for completing it considering he hasn’t cycled properly for at least 40+ years and is the ‘wrong’ side of 70 (he won’t thank me for that). He did fantastic on the day – as we all did!”

So far, the team have managed to raise a massive £2,642.63, and donations are still trickling in! The team are extremely proud of their achievements and are so pleased to be able to have helped such a good cause in the process.
